Obituary for Susan Elizabeth Munford (Murphy)

Sue was a devoted daughter, a caring wife, and an adoring mother. She was a lover of animals and all things that grow. It is with profound sorrow that we announce her unexpected passing in her fifty-fifth year.
Raised in Burlington, Sue studied nursing at the University of Windsor. After graduation, she spent three decades as a nurse in the Niagara Region, where she helped thousands of people at every stage of their lives. Beginning her career in palliative care, she worked tirelessly to ease the sufferings of those in their final days; she then shifted into the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program, helping new and expectant mothers and their babies adapt to the challenges of early life; finally, she finished her career as a school nurse, where she educated generations of children on all aspects of health and wellbeing. All the while, Sue was married to David for 30 years. Together they raised two daughters Stefanie (Sean) and Vanessa (Fraser). The four-and later six-of them shared a lifetime of happy memories spanning from the shores of Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean, to the dock of their Muskoka cottage. Predeceased by her mother Joan, whom she never ceased loving, Sue leaves behind her all those whose lives she enriched every day. These include her father Bill, to whom she provided daily care and support, as well as her brothers Will (Lila) and Lorne (Heather). Cremation has taken place. A memorial service has been planned at Stonehouse-Whitcomb Funeral Home, 11 Mountain Street in Grimsby, this Saturday, May 4th from 2-5 p.m. with Tributes at 3:30 p.m. Given Sue’s lifelong affection for animals, including her two pets Ruby and Noodle, in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Lincoln County Humane Society.
