nee Dunn
Peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of Arthias (Art) Tessier for 69 years. Loving mother of Mary Tessier, Michael Tessier (Theresa) and Gordon Tessier (Joanne). Predeceased by her son Stephen. Cherished grandmother of David and Jennifer. Therese is survived by her siblings Stephen Dunn (Mariann) and Eileen Tauskela (Joe). She is predeceased by her sister Marie Miedema (Peter). Therese lived a wonderful and full life alongside her husband and best friend in all things, Art. Therese had a great sense of humour and a stubborn Irish streak that allowed her to raise four children, travel the world and together with Art, run a very successful insurance business. Therese was born and raised in Hamilton and was a graduate of Cathedral Girls High School, Therese earned her ARCT – Associate, Royal Conservatory of Music Toronto and was an accomplished singer and choir director at many of the parishes in the Hamilton diocese. Therese lived her faith every day and was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL), St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary and a Eucharistic minister at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church where she along with Art administered the sacrament of holy communion to the sick. Therese also made many donations to her other favourite charity, the local casino. Therese’s greatest accomplishment to this day are all the wonderful friendships she made along the way. In following Therese’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Wednesday, June 5th from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, Brant Street at Blairholm Avenue, Burlington on Thursday, June 6th at 11 a.m. The Tessier family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Joseph Brant Hospital for their compassion and professionalism. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at a later date.
