It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that the family of Sonja Zijlstra announces her passing at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the age of 54. Devoted and loving partner of Lynn Voortman for 23 years. Cherished daughter of Alida and the late Gouke “George” Zijlstra (2000). Sonja will be dearly missed by her brother Vince Zijlstra (Leanne) and twin sister Sita Guther (late Ray 2014; Henri), niece Emily (Harry), nephews Alex (Sharlee), Daniel and Shane. She will also be remembered by the extended Zijlstra and Voortman families, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. As per Sonja’s wishes, a Private Cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sonja to Good Shepherd would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
