JOHANSEN, Alton Guy -
Passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton, on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the age of 74. Loving father of Scott Johansen (Laura) and Jerry Johansen. Cherished Grampy of Ian, Connor and Dylan. Dear brother of Gary Johansen (Lee Ann) and the late David Johansen.
This is the story of Alton “Al” Guy Johansen. Al was a wonderful man that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Our “Grampy,” as he liked to be called by his grandchildren, was someone who bragged about being from New Denmark, NB, getting to spend the winters in Florida and about his career in the tire industry at Remco Tire. Alton was the middle child so naturally he tried to get attention through his humor and being the life of the party. He continued to be this way until his passing and know he will be like this in the next life. Al touched so many people in both Canada and the United States, even though he could be grumpy at times his larger than life heart would always show through.
Al had such a big spirit, he had such a big personality that no matter how much time or paper we have we will never capture the spirit of who Al was and how much he will be missed….We love you Dad, Grampy and friend.
Private cremation has taken place. A Memorial Gathering to Celebrate Al's Life will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of the QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333 on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. The family would ask that you spend time with your children, take a walk on the beach with your loved ones and make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond. That is what Al enjoyed and would wish the same for you.
