Obituary for Joyce Mary Tidball (Lane)

Tidball, Joyce Mary (nee Lane)
August 13, 1950 – May 15, 2019

It is with profound sadness that we announce Joyce’s passing at Joseph Brant Hospital on May 15, 2019 at the age of 68. At the time of her passing, Joyce was surrounded by her loving husband, Bill of almost 45 years, and her devoted children Maggie (Luke), Michael (Kimberly), and our angel Russell who passed away in 1997. Joyce worked tirelessly with and for Russell and was his biggest and best advocate. Joyce is also predeceased by her parents Richard and Eileen Lane and her sister, Patricia (Brian). Joyce was an extremely proud and loving Nana to her four precious grandchildren, Jacob, Katie, Colton and Kenzley and will be dearly missed but not forgotten. Joyce was a teacher with the Halton Catholic School Board for many years. Following her retirement, she began volunteering with the Halton Aphasia centre in Georgetown and Milton. She hoped she could make a difference for those with Aphasia. Joyce was a “tell it like it is” person and had no time for pretentious individuals. Joyce’s health had deteriorated over the past six months but she fought through the adversity as she always did, often saying “this too shall pass”. Although her death was unexpected, her family knows she was strong until the end, just as strong as she was in life. Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, nana and friend who will be missed tremendously by all who knew her. Special thanks to the staff in the ICU at Joseph Brant Hospital for the care, concern and compassion they showed to Joyce and her family during this difficult time. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Monday, May 20, 2019 from 3-6 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2265 Headon Road, Burlington on Tuesday, May 21 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Halton Aphasia Centre.
