Obituary for Donald Allan Taylor

TAYLOR, Donald Allan (Dad, Daddy-O, Don, Papa Smurf, Sgt.Snorkel)

On Friday, May 3, 2019 the world stopped. We lost our Dad at the age of 84. Loving Husband and sweetheart of the late Marie-Paule (nee Poulin). He will be deeply missed x 1000 by his daughters Lynne Taylor (Norman Grenier) and Anne Taylor. His dog Peanut is in denial. The ‘bestest ever’ grandfather of Tania, Stephanie and Eric. Great grandfather of Megan, Melodie, Nathan, Stacey and Aurelie. He will be missed by his brothers and sisters Caroline, Sheila, Wendell and the late Wayland, as well as his extended family.

Our Dad did NOT want a huge write-up and so we are honouring that request. He had a quirky sense of humour, so yes, he’s now grinning BIG time! He loved simpler things in life; like a good 2-egg breakfast or charcoal burger, airplanes, airplanes, airplanes, comfy pajama's, being a gaming Gamer dude, Netflix and Twitter (especially following the HRPS). He disliked distracted drivers and clapped if you used your damm blinker. OUR DAD WAS LIFE: he was happy and carefree, then one day he had enough of doctors, feeling ill, tests etc. and chose to die with dignity at home. Wish granted! We got him home. He is now with our Mom, at Peace and soon ‘will haunt us for all eternity’ (his words).

We would like to thank Dr. Danny Sapir and Jennifer Kowalyk for their compassion and guidance, the wonderful nurses at Burlington Dialysis, Dr. Harrison at Joseph Brant Hospital and all the beautiful friends Don made during his 6 years doing Dialysis.

Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block North of City Hall), Burlington (905-632-3333), on Thursday May 9 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. Interment Burlington Memorial Gardens.

Donations in memory of Don: Pick someone you love, someone struggling/having a bad day and make them smile with the simplest gesture. Donate your time.
