Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Antonio on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the age of 94 at the Hamilton General Hospital. Beloved husband of Anna (nee Postella) for 67 years. Deeply loved father to Vito and Angela Sgro and Victor and Dawn Sgro. Cherished nonno to Anthony, Daniel and Adrian Sgro. Devoted son and son-in-law of the late Vito and Maria Antonia Sgro and the late Vittorio and Michelina Postella. Antonio will be sadly missed by his large extended family and friends. He was an employee of Dofasco for thirty years and built many homes in Stoney Creek and surrounding area. Antonio’s passion was spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid gardener and wine-maker. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ralph Profetto for his sincere care and compassion.Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayer Vigil at 8:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 304 Highway 8, Stoney Creek on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 10 a.m. Entombment at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, Stoney Creek. I worked with Tony and the other Sgro brothers in the masonry dept at Dofasco. Tony was my favorite he was a serious guy, but we always had a good time in a very dirty and difficult place to work...God bless you Tony and the Sgro family.
