Obituary for Lionel Maurice Coleman

Lionel Maurice Coleman
COLEMAN, Lionel Maurice

January 30, 1950 - March 9, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Lionel Coleman, born in Hamilton Ontario to the late Brian and Alice Coleman and brother of the late Marilyn Dunbar (Robert). Lionel was predeceased by his beloved daughter Amy (1995). He is survived by his loving wife Carol of 30 years, daughter Julie Coleman (Jim Stevens) and stepdaughters Carey Abma and Lindsey Bruce (Ryan). He leaves behind his adoring grandchildren Linden and Aubrey Stevens, and Lily and Brennen Bruce, along with nephew Brian Dunbar (Michelle), niece Cheryl Burns (Trevor) and their families. Lionel was a long time and valued employee of Adam Clark Company Ltd. (now Aecon) for 46 years. He was a loyal friend, respected colleague, and as Senior VP of Aecon Mining Construction Services he led and mentored with integrity. He appreciated the opportunity to travel extensively for work and also enjoyed many wonderful trips with his wife, children, and grandchildren. From exotic locations to simple cottage visits with family down East, he was grateful for each and every one. A devoted, generous and loving husband, father and grandfather, Lionel provided a strong and steady foundation for his family. We will be forever grateful for his calm and authentic way, which will continue to inspire each of us to live our lives fully and from the heart. Celebration of Life will take place at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Friday, March 15 at 1pm. Reception to follow. Cremation and private interment have taken place. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations in memory of Lionel to Mission Services of Hamilton at https://mission-services.com, would be sincerely appreciated by his family.
